This is Curating, First Draft Gallery, 3 May 2008.

I was ment to pickup some prints this morning but my photolab was closed. Then I ran into Ian at Surry Hills Markets. He moved to the north shore. He just had his first solo exhibition in Queensland.

These are his old glasses. He's getting them repaired today.

I went over to Somedays Gallery. Since they closed down their darkrooms, they now not only exhibit photographic works but all forms of artworks. I like the look of type.

I found this in 99 Degrees. An original Mark Gonzales print. NFS. I returned later to buy the Naughty DVD but they were closed for lunch.

This is currently my favorite Graff piece on Oxford St.

Half star.

Riding a bicycle, while talking on a mobile phone, with no shoes, down a busy street. Priceless.

Then I snuck into the ACP to hear the Phantasia artists talk. They were great. A good turn out. I think these kids are from the same school. I didn't think much of Magdalena Bors, Mark Kimber or Andrew Mamo's work until I heard the stories behind their photographs. That's why I go to these things.

Then I snuck into Blender Gallery to see the plastic camera exhibition. Not as good as last year's.

I was pretty disappointed.

At least this was interesting.

This is Andrew. He has a great video piece showing at First Draft Gallery at the moment. I've been crashing there the past two Saturdays to hear the artists and curator talks.

I love this “abstract painting” by David Keating. The Warhol reference is cheeky.

Every morning someone has a Cappuccino and leaves their cup wherever they want in the gallery. It's one of my favorite pieces in the show. I think it's the most asked about piece in the exhibition. “Is this supposed to be here?....really?”

I've enjoyed the artist talks more then the artworks. Even though I like art more then talking.

A short movie with no images, just the subtitles. Did I tell you I like the function of type?

Anneke and Aaron talk about curating.

We all tryed to join in. I found most of the discussions really stimulating and challenging.

Joel Mu has done a great job curating this show. Look out for more interesting work from him in the future. My shoes match the photocopy, his sock match the cushions. Our jeans match, you can see what we are sitting on in the top right. I wasn't conscious of any of this at the time the photo was taken. Call it intuition. Fair dinkum.
