Head On - Australian Centre for Photography. 1 May 2008.

Just a man. Sleeping on his shoe.

I made this for Vi. It's her birthday next week.

A hardcover book of our photos from Japan. They printed it really nicely.

My sixth pitstop of the day. I had a chat to Joe at Monster Children Gallery about making a zine and showing some work. I gave him my copy of the latest Transworld Magazine and a Barry McGee DVD.

Then I marched down to my favorite print store, Outre to have a chin-wag with Kasia.

I picked this up on the way. The best lowbrow magazine in the world, Vice. That's a Ryan McGinley photo on the cover.

Got to the ACP super early as usual. The Head-On exhibition looks great. It's an exhibition of photographs by finalist from the Head-On Photographic Portrait competition.

Staff at the ACP did a great job hanging the works up.

I was trying to choose a favorite. But they were so different.

This one is my second favorite.

Moshe is the founder and organiser of the event. He gave an early speech thanking everyone that helped him. It's a lot of work every year. I wouldn't like to do it.

There was a television setup for runners-up who didn't make the final cut. These photographic images were just as great as the ones in the final.

A lot of people came. Too many. The only time I have seen the ACP this full was when PAM launched their Xerox show.

Hey, cool, books and DVDS for sale.

This year they had a computer setup so the public can vote for their favorite. I think you could rig the public's choice in your favor since not many people visiting the ACP would vote. Plus there are so many photos to choose from. The likely hood of one photo getting a large number of votes over another would be rare.

It took me awhile just getting out of the gallery. There was another show opening on the same night.

This is William Yang's flash. Gorgeous.

I met Conor O'Brien and nerded off about photography for about 10 hours. He has a show opening at the CCP in Melbourne on the 22nd of May. Make sure you check it out if you are living in Australia.

When I fist saw her photograph I though she was a he.

See the resemblance. Nice hair. I wonder if she is related to Conor (two images up). See the resemblance?

This is my favorite.

And the winners are. There were three, I'm not sure why or who won because I was outside and couldn't get back in to hear the announcements.

“How do you like them apples?” Hey mum, guess what I just won.... Fair dinkum.
